• This mentorship program is arguably the most hands-on mentorship a student can receive. Each mentor is paired with only a few students every year to account for daily communications between mentor and student.

  • 1) Schedule a call with us

After purchasing the Mentorship Program (here), you'll receive an email with a link to schedule a call at your earliest convenience. This call will be with one of our lead mentors to discuss your current situation, goals, and anything else you wish to share. (It's okay to not know what you want to do yet, we're here to help with that).

The goal of this call is to get the information we need to develop a high-level career plan based on your goals, values, lifestyle, etc.

  • 2) Partner with a mentor

Based on the information you've shared, we'll share a few mentors that would best fit the needs of your general career direction.

  • 3) Developing a career plan

Based on the information shared, your mentor will begin working with you to develop a personal career plan and strategy based on your current career direction and ambitions.

You will work with your mentor to iterate and update this plan/roadmap as your career strategy develops and as your goals and wants become more specific or change.

Our goal is to account for the career you want and share the different options available to you to get there, or to confirm that direction.

  • 4a) Action plan

Using your career plan and consideration of the UW engineering workload, mentors will work with you to prioritize important career development actions outside of studying.

We were once students too, we understand UW engineering is busy and it's hard to know what should be prioritized. Your mentor is here to tell you what should be prioritized based on the career you want. UW has a lot of resources and opportunities available, we're here to distill all that's available to you, and translate them into actions you can take to develop your career!

  • 4b) Skill Workshops (In-person & online)

In parallel with one-on-one activities with your mentor, we run a bi-weekly workshop at the University of Waterloo to teach transferable career-building skills, proven methods, and an overview of what the industry is doing today to allow for a clear understanding of what can be done to maximize your success.

    Workshop topics include, but are not limited to;

    - Interview skills

    - Time Management

    - Peer differentiation

    - Online presence optimization

    - The resume lifecycle & resume building

    - Negotiations & expectation management

    - Proactive vs Reactive (driving in parallel)

    - What is career momentum and how to create it

    - How to systematically force positive habit creation in your life (mindset development)

  • 5) Get the results you want

    - Get your dream co-op placement

    - Get "outstanding" evaluations on placements

    - Have a clear career plan with quantifiable next steps

    - Reduce doubt and uncertainty about your future/career

Although, we can not 100% guarantee you your dream job. We can guarantee you will walk away with a strong understanding of the engineering environment beyond Waterloo, its structure, and the different options available to you, paired with the skills & knowledge to take action and control of your career!

  • Availability & Flexibility

We were once University of Waterloo students ourselves, we understand a lot going on. So we've accounted for that and have made our mentorship program as easy & flexible as possible for you.

Students can schedule meetings/calls based on their availability. Upfront, we received mentors' availability and have connected these time slots to their calendars. This allows students to schedule a meeting/sync up, at their convenience by simply selecting a time slot that works for them!

Note: Once you're in the program you'll have a direct line to your mentor.
